Been adding people– but I got word from Florian, that the reason why his signup didn’t go through at first, was because apparently it closes down at some point– so this is how you can have an invite but are not allowed to signup.

So basically as far as the two of us can tell, invites (seem to be unlimited so don’t be shy about asking) are all good but if they close down the invite server (or however they do it) you won’t be able to use it until they bring it back online again.  My personal guess is that they shut it down at some point to update code– this could happen multiple times a day (most likely at night when Florian tried to signup).

So the final suggestion is that you keep a chrome tab open with the url in the address bar from the email (the one from the part of the email that mentions learn more about google plus) then just refresh it occasionally to see if it goes through.  So far I haven’t heard of anyone that I submitted ones to having problems.

Update: 11.35 AM

When sending me the email– it’s quicker if you put your full email in the message along with your full name.  Google Plus wants a name when I add an email address that doesn’t already have an account. Basically it just makes the process go quicker so I can just copy and paste instead of having to type in every single name.

Also: You probably need a google account for it to work– not sure if the google apps accounts work but I’ll add you in either way.  Just realize that they might not have enabled the basic or pro google apps accounts yet.

Forget the adding on facebook—feel free to do so, it’s just I got a text message from Florian and he said the facebook exporter stopped working and doing it manually is a pain.

So just send a email to MatisseWallander@gmail.com and I’ll try to do them as fast as possible—keying on that this hack could stop working at anytime, so I’ll try my best to help all you guys and girls out.

So I chatted with Florian on the best way to accept an invite (while delays can happen this way worked the first time for me) when you get the email, right click on “Learn more about Google+” and copy the url.  That url has your invite code in it—don’t share it because I don’t know how the system works and sharing that code might get you banned (unlike the original gmail invites which kevin rose posted on his blog and gave out to thousands and thousands of Screensavers fans).

Florian originally clicked “view or comment on” link and that caused his delay which had him refreshing the page in chrome for a few hours before it would let him successfully join.

So to sum it up it:

Right click and copy the link from “Learn more about Google+”

Then paste into your browser (I had logged out so then google+ asked me to log back in—which might help it work if you have trouble doing it this way).  So if you’re already logged in and you have trouble just log out and try pasting the link in the address bar again—it will  ask you to log in again.

[Basically I’m ranting but I’m trying to quickly get out everything that I know—so you can best get your account to work as fast as possible.]

Update 11.24 AM

I’ve received notes from people indicating it works– so I’ve created a circle in my account called “Stuff I Stumbled Upon” to which I’ll add people to– then after I’ve added a few I’ll post another status to send out to the new batch and which will send out another to users who already got an add but for some reason some accounts needed a second message to be sent out in the circle for the invite to stick.  Basically it’s a circle dedicated to fans of Stuff I’ve Stumbled Upon– I’ll use it for invites for future services that Google might offer (that require invites) or other services that people want to get invites to.  So if you got an invite or an invite to a service, whether now or in the future and you want to make sure the most people possible see it– then email it to me and I’ll post it in the circle and all the fans of the site will get it.

So far “circles” really is pretty useful.
