Thanks. I’ll update the article with your solution as well– although it’s not the only error that I’ve seen on the complaint forums when people talk about “Live Writer”. I will admit that commenting out, isn’t really the best solution for most of the problems, but it is one that most people can test out pretty quickly.

Rather than comment out the offending line you can add this line directly above it:

if($file->guid && !($file->guid == NULL))

The reason the original code is spitting that error out that causes havoc with Windows Live Writer is that $file->guid is empty. Adding the above line will fix the problem properly.
